A. Southampton is not an assisted area and is unable to provide loans or grants to individuals starting a business. However, there are many ways of raising finance and help is available.
Grant Finder – funding opportunities available for companies, not just from the EU but from the UK and local providers.
Wessex Development Loan Fund – designed to compliment existing bank facilities and is available to businesses where normal finance arrangements are not suitable.
The Princes Trust – low interest loans up to £5,000 and in special cases grants. To be eligible you need to be aged between 18-30, unemployed or employed in a part-time or inadequate job.
South Coast Money Line - business loans for people living within 'PO' (Portsmouth) or 'SO' (Southampton) postcodes. Available to start up businesses who need relatively small amounts and start up and existing businesses who are unable to access funding from High Street banks because of low credit scoring or adverse credit history.
